The waters between Rocky Point and Chinamans Beach are among Sydney’s most biodiverse marine areas - home to seahorses, rays, turtles, sharks (the non-biting kind) and diverse fish species. But these habitats are under constant pressure from boat traffic, pollution, and over-fishing.
By supporting Wyargine Aquatic Friends, you’re helping us secure formal protection of this area through the creation of the Wyargine Aquatic Reserve - a “no-take” zone that will safeguard marine life for future generations while allowing low-impact recreation for all.
With your help, the Wyargine Aquatic Reserve will become a sanctuary where marine life thrives, children learn, and the community reconnects with the ocean that defines our coast.

We’re a volunteer-run organisation — everything we achieve depends on people like you. Just get in touch if you would like to help. We currently need help with:
Community engagement: talking to residents, schools and local groups
Photography & social media: documenting marine life and events
Scientific liaison: helping coordinate research and data gathering
Events: supporting film nights, beach clean-ups, and information stalls
We are all volunteers and use funds for general operating expenses and don't even buy biscuits for meetings. We welcome any contributions and these can be made here. These are tax deductible via the Raisely platform. Your contribution directly funds:
Scientific assessments and mapping of marine habitats
Educational programs for local schools
Community consultation and awareness campaigns
Preparation of the application to NSW Government for reserve designation
